UNFILTERED
A few months ago, I was out to dinner and overheard a group of teens talking about social media. One of them said, “None of it’s real anymore.” That sentence stayed with me long after we left the restaurant.
When you scroll through social media, it’s easy to see what she meant. Overly-smooth skin, sculpted bodies, flawless homes, perfect relationships. AI-generated faces are blending in with real ones, and phone apps can reshape with one tap. The line between real and edited has become almost invisible.
Over the years, I’ve even seen it happen with my own work. I photograph someone in beautiful light, capturing their real expression and natural features. Later, I’ll see that same image posted online, edited again through a phone app. Skin blurred. Lines erased. Features changed. It makes my heart sink because the original was already beautiful.
That is why I created UNFILTERED.
This campaign is not about being trendy or dramatic. It’s about honesty. It’s about creating portraits that look like you, with thoughtful lighting and strong composition, but without altering who you are. These sessions are for men and women. You can be bold or quiet, playful or serious. You don’t have to perform or fit into someone else’s idea of how you should look.
As a photographer in San Antonio, TX, I’ve worked with high school seniors, business owners, parents, and grandparents and I’ve heard it all. They tell me they need to lose weight, fix their skin, or wait for the “right time.” I understand those feelings, but I also know how often they are rooted in comparison and unrealistic standards.
UNFILTERED sessions are simple by design. Clean backgrounds. Strong light. Black and white. The focus stays on expression and presence. I still retouch professionally, but I do not reshape faces or erase the details that make someone who they are. Laugh lines, texture, strength, softness, all of it belongs in the frame.
