Isabel | Pink Parachute | Ever After Storybook Session
Believe it or not, several girls turned down the opportunity to be part of this creative shoot before Steele High School senior and Ever After model Isabel Napolitano bravely said yes. I get it—the idea sounded a little “out there” when I tried to describe it. But Isabel and her mom, Noemi, trusted my vision, and I couldn’t be more thankful. The results? Absolutely magical.
Location: The Dam at Canyon Lake
The day of the shoot brought a few unexpected challenges—starting with the Texas heat. (Of course, right? South Texas in the summer is no joke!) I had hoped for a nice breeze on top of the dam, but instead, it was hot, humid, and still. To top it off, our assistant wasn’t able to make it, which meant we didn’t have the extra hands needed to toss the parachute up into that big puffy shape I had envisioned.
Enter: A Little Creative Problem-Solving
Thankfully, a sweet nearby family lent us a hand for a few shots. But when it became clear we needed a longer-term solution, Noemi had the most brilliant idea: "Let’s put Isabel in a tree."
It worked like a charm.
We found a sturdy, low-hanging tree that gave Isabel just the right amount of height. We raised the light stand as high as it would go, draped the parachute around her, and suddenly, we were creating magic again. I won’t lie—I was holding my breath the whole time, worried the weight of the parachute might pull her down. But Isabel was a total pro, stayed balanced and safe, and gave us some of the most epic shots of the day.
Trust Makes the Magic Happen
Creative shoots like this require trust—from the model, from her family, and from me as the photographer. Isabel and Noemi brought that trust in full, and the results speak for themselves.
