Wanderlust Wednesday | Madison's "Good For You" shoot
Continuing the Wanderlust Series, I had the absolute pleasure of creating a one-of-a-kind shoot with Madison Keller, a senior at Johnson High School. This session was definitely out of the norm for me—instead of one of my usual outdoor locations around San Antonio, TX, we brought this vision to life entirely in-studio with full lighting, backdrops, and a whole lot of laughter.
This shoot was months in the making. Maddy originally wanted to wear a gorgeous gown she spotted on Pinterest. I even met with a dress designer to see if we could custom-make something just for her. But as we brainstormed together, I mentioned wanting to try something inspired by pop culture—specifically music videos, movies, or books. That’s when Maddy brought up how much she loves Selena Gomez’s “Good For You” video. Instantly, we both knew that was it!
The concept was simple: If we recreated this video using Maddy’s beauty and talent, and my photography style and studio lighting, what would it look like?
We chose two scenes to replicate:
The floor scene, where Selena is lying down in a soft, vulnerable pose
The stool scene, with a minimal setup and moody, intimate lighting
This was a challenging shoot technically, but it was so much fun. Maddy nailed the vibe—confident, sultry, and totally in character—and the studio lighting gave us complete control to bring our vision to life.
As a senior photographer in San Antonio, getting to do something this creative and collaborative fills my cup. I love giving my clients space to express their personalities in fresh, bold ways—and this shoot was exactly that.
Here’s our take on Selena Gomez’s “Good For You” video, featuring Madison Keller. I hope you love the results as much as we do!
